What does your job entail?

I manage the accounting, budgeting, treasury functions and bond issuance for the government agency that oversees all the major development projects in Pittsburgh. We currently have over 100 active projects and programs, and that keeps everyone in my department busy and involved. I also handle the employee benefit programs and get called upon to do things like research and implement new phone systems and software packages. I represent the URA at legislative and regulatory meetings and serve as the primary contact with outside auditors and public finance professionals.

Outside interests/hobbies:

Gardening, working on our historic house, playing the piano.

What do you like about being a CPA?

The CPA designation sets you apart from others in accounting and finance as a professional with abilities above and beyond just "debits and credits". Being a CPA and a member of the PICPA has provided me with more visibility to my employers and has enabled me to meet and work with some dynamic professionals.
